This is a well-written book that shows a cat's intelligence and ability to connect with his owner. It also has a humorous side in showing that cats do not know everything about nature: Toes tries to talk to a bird, not realizing that all it can do is coo. However, let the reader be forwarned: this book made me cry Big Tears. If you love cats and are familiar with books like Old Yeller, Stone Fox, or Where the Red Fern Grows, you can begin to get an idea of where this story is going. Be prepared to hug your cat for the rest of the day.
