Of course I'm a big fan of Cameron's movie, Titanic. So I was curious to see how Bill Walker was going to pull off the coup de grace and rebuild the Titanic. I was relatively surprised at how well the story pulled together. The characters are very intriguing and I began to genuinely like some of them. I didn't care for all of the references to the movie. In my opinion, it was overkill and those should have been excluded. However, the writing was crisp and quick-paced, keeping me up late turning the pages, even though I just had a feeling how it would all turn out. But, when you take on an iconic tragedy as the Titanic, it is to be expected. I haven't had the chance to read any of Bill Walker's other works, but after reading Titanic 2012, I'd definitely be interested to pick them up.
While the premise is unique, with odd bits of trivia and beautifully wrought details brought the ship to life, the characters really hold court in this suspenseful romantic tale!
