"A world divided into ELOI--gentle, helpless surface dwellers who live to nibble sweet fruits and play silly games; and MORLOCKS--gruesome monsters who only leave their vast underground machines to terrorize the night...The Traveller first believes the Eloi rule the Morlocks; then he suspects the Morlocks command; until an awful discovery leads to the hideous truth:
The man from the past is the only human on Earth--And the real horror of the far future is just beginning...

Timeless! And if you can, see the 1960 movie starring Rod Taylor (also starring Alan Young, best known as Wilbur in the classic "Mr. Ed"). It is one of the better movie adaptions of a classic novel.

This is a classic of early science fiction. There are as many implications of commentary about society as there are pure SF elements.

This is one of the best classical works! H. G. Wells has a wonderful way of telling stories. This book is a fast read based on science of the future and where that can, or will, lead human-kind. Which branch of fellow man will you choose? Will you go with the fun, carefree and loving Eloi, or will you become a cannibalistic creature of the dark like the Morelocks? Just a fantastic read!

The Time Traveler has ridden his machine hundreds of years into the future. Buildings, cities, and civilizations rise and fall before his eyes. He is welcomed to 802701 by the frail and simple Eloi. The future seems safe--until the Time Traveler encounters the shadowy, carnivorous Morlocks, inhabitants of the Underworld. The Morlocks terrorize the Eloi, hunt the Time Traveler, and capture the Time Machine. Can the Time Traveler escape the future with his Time Machine...and his life?
