A deep story, touching on emotionally difficult topics, (the effects of war on people, disability, loss of self-esteem) yet skillfully done. It isn't an easy read, but I raced back to it whenever I had a few minutes. It brought me to tears and laughter. It isn't your typical fluffy Amish story, but much more serious then a lot of the Amish fiction available. I really enjoyed it!

Who I am? I am reader who doesnt normally read, Christian Amish Romance fiction. I am just not a big fan of romance, amish, christian or historical fiction. I am a reader who loves books about quilts. I ordered this book because it was called Quilts of Lancaster County.

What is this book about? Not Quilts. If you are expecting some fiction Amish Romance centered around quilters and quilt patterns you are going to be disappointed to find this is only a modern romance set in Lancaster county. Our main character Jenny, is a news reporter and jounalist, who was injured by a car bomb in a war town country that is never identified.
She wakes up in the hospital with covered in her Grandma's quilt with a note to come home and heal. Pretty much the end of the quilt, although every once in a while it is mentioned with no real detail that the beds have quilts.

So if you are not going to get some good quilting out of this book, there are some other reasons to stick around. There is a good story here, and we will find that this story continues to other books, as it finds romance for other characters. I enjoyed the 1st 200 pages but thought the last 80 or so dragged and were repetitious. I also had some real doubts that Jenny would be so easily accepted by the Amish, and they would not insist that she give up her lap top and cell phone.

Who is the Author? This is Kurt Cameron's mother, and she has written many other books, and will go on to write many more. She wrote one about being his mom, and some kids books too.
