Some really useful ideas, and some ideas that are downright crazy. It does, however, make you second guess your consumerism and particularly wasteful environmental practices, which is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned. This is also a great book to read in short chunks (bathroom reader, anyone?).

I love this book! I have read & reread it, you can use it like an encyclopedia or read cover to cover. No matter how you read it, it can save you money. Some ideas seem radical but some are super easy to start right away. If nothing else the book pays for itself...

I read this book a # of years ago & there were many helpful hints. I still use her recipe for spraying on stain remover for laundry. It works awesome & it is very economical.

This book is one of my all-time favorites! I intend to keep my copy forever. I'm ordering a second copy for my daughter.

The copy I own is her compilation guide - all the Gazettes in one book - but I highly recommend her work for anyone starting out in the world of frugality! Some things are sort of common sense, but she has so much information that can point you in the right direction to get out from under debt and live a life free of the evils of "credit". Awesome info!

This book is fabulous. I've read it cover to cover like, eight times. But then yesterday, at the Library I found a double sized "expanded" version of the book with more ideas that weren't in the first one!!! I was SO excited! So I will be reposting the first version in hopes that I can trade up for the expanded one. This is definitely a book worth reading!!

I stumbled across this book about 16 years ago when my eldest son was only 2 and it helped me through some extremely tight economic times. Having spent 12 years of my adult life in poverty I can say that Amy's book(s) were a lifeline and a beacon that guided me through.
Not every idea in this book will be for everybody but the principles of saving money while maintaining a happy home are pure gold.
