This is my favorite kind of nonfiction because it presents personal stories to highlight the problems we are facing and offers specific, concrete examples of programs and policies that work to address them. The Appendix has 10 specific steps you can take. I appreciated the distillation of how we got to this point, the heart-breaking descriptions of where we are now in terms of the lives of poor children, and the changes we need to make to improve going forward.
