This slim book speaks about thyroid disorders, their testing, diagnosis, and treatment. The information will help those who suffer from thyroid disease and its accompanying disorders which number in the thousands. Not everyone has the same symptoms but if you have symptoms that you don't understand or perhaps many symptoms that you don't understand, read this book. It's a good start. But don't stop there, get all the information you can, and find an endocrinologists who will work with you until you are stable -- that means he or she has to listen to what you have to say, not cut you off, explain fully why this or that course of action is right or not right in your case, and if you are well informed and want to use one medicine (the more natural type) versus another type, the doctor should at the least discuss why you prefer one over the other, and at the best, write a prescription for what you want without comment. If you can't work with a doctor, find someone else and then fire the first one. Don't be content with "it's all in your head", or "you need psychiatry". Change doctors again, and again, and again if you have to in order to get the help you need.

While deciding on the endrocrinologist, consider buying a copy of PRESCRIPTION FOR NUTRITIONAL HEALING by Phillis Balch (fourth edition). Invaluable, A-Z listing of health disorders. Thyroid diseases explained and nutritional supplements listed that will bolster your nutritional state so that you can nourish your thyroid while working through the therapies your doctor suggests.
