Excellent read. I never had a clue as to "who dunnit" till the author let it be known. Max and Cori practically burn the pages.

Another great Roxanne St. Claire book! This is the second in the Bullet Catchers series. Max is a man who shows no emotions. He is known by his fellow Bullets as the iceman. He manages to keep his feelings controlled at all times - until he gets his latest assignment. He is given the job of guarding a very wealthy widow. This in itself is no big shock - this is what he does. It is the widow herself who is the shock to Max's nerves, body, and heart. Corrine (Cori), is the love of his life. He was, at one time, going to marry her. After the death of her father the wedding was called off, Max ran away, and she moved on.
Now her husband is dead and she is convinced it isn't because of natural causes. She has hired a bodyguard as a rouse so that she can investigate the death without anyone knowing. Little does she know that the bodyguard is Max - the love of her life. Now she is stuck with the one man who can heal her broken heart and break it at the same time. They are stuck together and end up spending all their time trying to keep Cori alive and find out who is trying to keep her late husbands murder a secret.
St. Claire has the ability to write stories that keep you entertained from the first page to the last. Her mysteries are very well written and they always come packed with a whole lot of twists and turns. So many mysteries today give away all the answers within the first half of the book. While St. Claire drops clues and hints all the way through, she leaves you guessing as to the real villian until the very end.
Excellent story and a great series!!!

Max Roper's new assignment for the Bullet Catchers is to protect the rich widow of Billionaire William Peyton who died three months ago, and find out if she had anything to do with his death. It seems like an easy assignment until Max learns that the wife is Corrine Cooper Peyton, Max's former fiancee. When Max arrives in Florida, Cori is not happy to see him; but she knows he will be good at his job. Someone has threatened Cori's life...probably the same someone who killed her husband.
This is the second book in St. Claire's Bullet Catcher series. The lead characters are both smart and likeable. The supporting characters are well drawn and add to the atmosphere. The story had many twists and turns that kept the reader guessing throughout the book. Even though the heroine has a Too-Stupid-to-Live moment in the middle of the book, the story got back on track quickly. My rating: 4 Stars.
