2** FRUSTRATING STARS

I really wanted to like this one. I actually DID enjoy parts of it. However, I had a few problems with the plot and characters that kept me from enjoying the book. The focus of the story is centered around a love triangle. In general, I'm not opposed to such things. Done well they can create passion and anguish in a way that is beautiful and redeeming.

Still, I couldn't feel compassion for a heroine who refused to be honest with the men she 'loved'. So many times the author would set Keria up to come clean to Denny and time and again Keria just lied to him. Had it not taken 500 some pages for the truth to be told (rather for Denny to catch Keira lying to his face), maybe I'd feel more compassion for the situation. ...But, it didn't SO I can't. I only felt sorry both Denny and Kellen and the situation which led to the end of old friendship.

Yet, I did like parts of the novel. I liked Seattle setting and many of the secondary characters. I liked the story surrounding Kellen and the D-bags and their group of friends. I thought Denny was an interesting character as well and would have liked to learn more about him. At this point, I doubt I will continue this series. Unless Book 2 is vastly different. I would gladly pick of a spinoff centered around Anna, Jenny, or perhaps Denny in Australia.

I spent the whole day yesterday reading without eating or sleeping. That is how captivating it is. I read a lot of the reviews before I started and I completely agree that Keira didn't deserve either one of them! There was nothing, I mean nothing wrong with Denny. Believe me I looked for ways to make what she was doing with Kellan seem ok but I couldn't. Denny is the perfect guy- smart, kind, ambitious and gorgeous plus he's Australian! (I would imagine his words in an Australian accent as he spoke). He loved her so much! I even shed a few tears for him which is rare! Kellan is the typical tortured soul we all love to feel sorry for but can't help being ultra attracted to. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because of Kiera. She irritated me the entire time, her indecisiveness, naivety and her annoying insecurities. I just wanted her to make a decision already and stick to it. In the end, the choice was really made for her. The lesson she learned is that if you play with fire you will get burned and she was toast! I don't know that the book really needs a sequel but I'm already reading it because I can't help myself! Enjoy! You will not be disappointed!
