Very readable and interesting. First half is accurate and informative. Second half is speculative and thought-provoking. Well worth reading.

Author is professor in Cal. who gives good work-ups of human evolution and progress of our civilization. Smart book, layman oriented, expect to find this one o*in many public libraries, or others of his books. Prof. Diamond often references his scientific ideas to his personal experiences with raising his family/children. *Sorry for spelling, backspace key doent seem to be working.
Although I personally reject some of the evolutionary views presented in this book, it was an excellent read. I enjoyed his work on language evolution, however, I think that there are better books on that topic. Also, I think that his later book, Gun, Germs, and Steel is much more in-depth and enjoyable than this work.
Still, I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in human origins and why we are the way we are.
