just as great as his first book; no decline in providing enjoyment. Just as many stories causing out-loud laughter and others drawing tears because they're so touching. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Herriot books.

Classic James Herriot. Recommended!
Love is wonderful the second time around...
These Herriot books are timeless and wholesome. Who wouldn't enjoy them and re-read them from time to time? They are a good antidote to those times when a reader is feeling down or sad or just wants to recall a kinder, gentler time.
Animal lovers- rejoice, for you have stumbled on a gem of a book. A country vet writes his stories with compassion and humor.
The kind of book that makes an evening seem a little warmer and your pet a bit more important."
James Harriot's books are delightful. His stories make me laugh out loud. Each story stands on its own making them a very low pressure enjoyable read. Highly recommended.
Another excellent book by Herriot. More wonderful stories that give you a great feeling about the place he lived and the people he worked with and for.
A sequel to All Creatures Great and Small from the Yorkshire veterinarian.
This book is absolutely wonderful and an excellent read as are all of James Herriot books. If you love animal stories and a first-hand look at a veterinarian's life, then this is the book for you.
This book follows All Creatures Great and Small. James Herriot has been working as a veterinarian in Darrowby for several years. Upon getting married, he became partners with his boss Siegfried. This book covers that time period up until he joins the RAF in World War II.
He describes many of his visits to the farms and his various animal patients and their owners with such affection that you can tell he truly loves it there. Even when he describes difficult people he has encountered, he tells the stories with such humor. Sometimes he reminisces back to times he was dating his wife Helen. He also describes many of the old procedures veterinarians had to use back then before the medical advances in this field.
I love the writing style of this author. He brings you into his world and you enjoy being there. Another 5-star rating.

As always, Herriot writes a funny and touching book.
I enjoyed the playful stories of JH.
Have loved this whole series of books since high school and my days on the farm. James Herriot books are my go to books when nothing else will satisfy me. He is truly gifted.
Another very interesting book, that keeps your attention by James Herriot. Excellant!
Two years ago when we published James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small, we called it a "miracle between covers." In the first major review of the book, Alfred Ames said: "If there is any justice, All Creatures Great and Small will become a classic of its kind. The publishers call it a miracle--not too strong a word for a book that offers something for everyone: gusto, humor, pathos, information, romance, insight, style. It is vicarious living with one of the happiest and most admirable of people, a veterinary surgeon in the Yorkshire dales who can write superlatively well."
James, the miracle worker, has done it again. All Things Bright and Beautiful is precisely the warm and joyful sequel that readers all over America have been asking for. James is now married, and he and Helen live on the top floor of Skeldale House, while his former boss, now partner, Siegfried lives downstairs with Siegfried's brother Tristan. James continues the rich and rewarding day-to-day life of a small-town veterinarian, and we journey with him across the dales meeting a whole new cast of unforgettable characters--humans, dogs, horses, lambs, parakeets--all of them drawn with the same infinite fascination, affection, and insight that have made Herriot one of the most beloved authors of our time. This is the most loving book of the year to have--or to give.

We meet an unforgettable cast of characters, animal and human, in the second volume of Herriot's memoirs. Herriot is now Siegfried's partner in the country veterinary practice, and we go with him on his rounds, cheering his successes, mourning his losses, and smiling at the humor he finds so often
