I have watched this show and enjoyed the program. It's a HUGE risk traveling across this ice in Alaska. A huge risk traveling in Alaskan weather period. This book was very enlightening and i found very interesting. It takes a special person to make their living this way. I loved the book, it holds lots of info and is well written. You feel like you are having a one on one conversation while reading this. You just find yourself turning pages quickly to see what will come next and i had to keep reminding myself "This is true, this is happening now" Well worth my time.

I guess this one is exactly what you would expect an ice road trucker to write. It has its informative parts, it can be entertaining, but all in all it is not the same as the show, Hugh's personality does not seem to fly off of the pages and I am no better for having read it!

This is a great book if you have watched the show, so that u understand what he is talking about. Wonderful book about a job that is a way of life for a few months a year, a great way yet harsh) to make a lot of money quick -IF- you have the truck driving experience, wherewithall, and nerve to make it safely. Also about a tough man who made a great life for himself and family, although he lives in a smallish (population)area with little book education. Hard work and years of a good work ethic, and his enjoyment of his work and owning his own business make this a good book and can inspire someone about hard work. I reccommend it for men and women both to read
