This was an excellent book! The only problem was....It was too long to finish in one night! In Thin Dark Line, Tami Hoag draws the reader into a horrible crime spree with so many suspects and weirdos and ends with a couple of Bizarre twists! This one is a page turner, one of Hoag's best!

Hoag's killer/cop tangos are always intricately plotted, pulse-pounding exciting, and wind up with a punch the reader never sees coming. This one, set in Louisiana's bayou contry, is definitely up to par.

Wow what a book! Tami Hoag uses misdirection upon misdirection upon misdirection to confuse the shit out of you. Man, the story leads you in one direction, to one killer and then WHAM it's not him! And then there's another likely suspect and it's not him. again and again and again. I just love it. A Thin Dark Line really keeps you guessing right up until the final chapter. Again just WOW!

Deputy Annie Broussard gets entangled in the murder of Pam Bission since she is the one who found the body. Detective Nick Fourcade is prime on the case and goes over the line forcing his suspension. Annie is suspicious of the cop in charge and begins her own investigation. The interplay between Annie and Nick is fabulous and edgy as hell. Nick is a little crazy (well maybe a lot) and Annie is reluctant to get involved with him even if it is only for his investigation notes. I really liked Nick's edginess though it really made his job difficult. It did provide some great comic relief moments though.

A great story of murder, stalking, police brutality, vigilantism, conspiracy, harrassment and rape. This story had everything cops, lawyers, district attorneys, victims, crazy relatives and many many suspects. It's a book that you wanted to end just to find out who did it but you didn't want it to end because it was so exciting. Tami Hoag doesn't write romance novels but there is always some small element of romance included. Don't look for a HEA from Ms. Hoag but you'll definitely enjoy the story with or without it.

Suspense at its finest! I couldn't put it down! This is the first book that actually gave me chills...I actually had dreams about this one! One of her best "thriller" works. Not a lot of sex scenes (as some of her other books) but it was really about the crime(s). Broussard's character is tough and sassy - just as I like female leads to be. This was my second time reading it, but I still rushed through it, not able to put it down. Superb!

Tami Hoag's book is basically about an alleged serial killer, Martin, who is released on a technicality. The cop, Fourcade, who got the evidence against Martin is accused of planting evidence. There's no basis for this which could make for a dubious plot from the beginning. But the author's storytelling skills overshadow this point. It's a thrilling story, real mystery, and has two very interesting major characters, Fourcade and Annie, another cop determined to see justice done. Fourcade especially is truly an original character. While he is willing to bend the law a little (though he didn't plant any evidence), Annie goes by the letter of the law. With these 2 clashing, brutal unsolved murders and threats made upon Annie;s life, the story is riveting. Throw in an atmospheric Louisiana setting and the stereotypical minor characters and you have one hard to put down thriller.

Vigilantism can be swift and lethal, but it does not always carry the banner of justice. For Deputy Sheriff Annie Broussard, an attempt to honor the law traps her between the prime suspect in a vicious crime and her own colleagues on the force. And she's unsure which side, if either, is to be trusted. Set in the bayou country of Louisiana, A Thin Dark Line explores dark psychological territory while weaving through a complex plot rife with sordid characters and unlikely heroes.

A thriller/suspense book with romance too. It has enough romance to keep the "Romance" fans reading & not too much to have the Mystery buffs running away. I found just enough of both genres to keep me glued to the pages. Tami Hoag is definitely an author worth reading.

FROM THE PUBLISHER
Pamela Bichon's killer is free, the case against him dismissed on a technicality. In the eyes of the law it doesn't matter that the prosecutor's key piece of evidence proves Marcus Renard's guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt. All that matters is that the evidence was never listed on a search warrant and it was seized by a detective with a questionable past and a nasty reputation. But the investigation isn't over - not for Cajun cop Nick Fourcade, who stands accused of planting the evidence. He's stepped over the line before and this case could push him over the edge. Deputy Annie Broussard can't walk away from the homicide either. She found the body. But pursuing the investigation will mean forming an uneasy alliance with Fourcade, a man she doesn't trust. It will mean subjecting herself to growing harassment from her fellow cops. And it will mean letting herself be drawn into the confidence of a suspected killer.

Arrested for the murder of a local businesswoman, Marcus Rennard is soon freed on a technicality. Deputy Sheriff Annie Broussard feels an obligation to the dead woman to find her killer. Rennard may look guilty, but when she runs across Detective Nick Fourcade beating Rennard, she breaks it up and arrests Fourcade. As the men in the Sheriff's office harass her for being disloyal to the brotherhood, Annie digs into the murder case. She soon discovers her only ally is the cop she put behind bars.

Another great book by Tami Hoag! I had a few suspects that I kept jumping between. I was very surprised when the killer was revealed. I read this one when it first came out and loved it. This time around I listened to the audiobook which was excellent. My rating: 5 Stars.

The third of Hoag's Louisiana Bayou books- follows "Lucky's Lady" and "Cry Wolf.." (If you plan on reading "Cry Wolf," read it first as the killer is revealed in "A Thin Dark Line.") Hoag is a great mystery writer- keeps you guessing up until the end of this almost 600 page book. She writes well, throws in some romance and draws her readers in. Detective Nick Fourcade is ordered off a stalker/murder case and turns to Deputy Annie Broussard for help. Recommended.
