The story is about a twelfth-century Welsh warrior and a mortal-angel whose job had been to protect his heaven assigned people or "charges" for a thousand years. Just as he is about to become a real mortal and live out his life, he meets his soul-mate and new charge that just happens to be a ghost who is not quite dead.
Another very good novel by Cindy Miles. A good mixture of romance, ghosts, humor and a mystery. Characters from her novel, "Spirited Away" are involved in helping to solve the mystery as well. Very good book.

Good book. I liked "Spirited Away" - the previous book and Tristan's story, better.
Sequel to "Spirited Away", which I have not yet read. It is , however, next on the list. Some of the characters carry over; Tristan and Andi play a role in the story, as do the warriors.
Exerpt from the back cover:
"A twelfth-century Welsh Warrior turned Guardian who has protected his charges for nearly a thousand years, Gawan's got less than twenty-four days left on duty until he can shed his wings and finally become mortal. But the higher-ups have different plans. The beautiful, soaking-wet woman Gawan finds by the side of the road near Castle Grimm is actually his soul mate, and it's up to him to save her life."

This was a great book - it kept me in suspense about how it would end. I finished it yesterday and I keep remembering all the sweet moments. I can't wait to read the rest of Cindy Miles' books!

"Spirited Away" is the first book and because the characters from that book pop up in this one as well. The story line and mystery in the first book do not come through in the second book. This book I am sorry to say is very slow, and repetitive and at times boring.
Cindy Miles demonstrates some ingenuity with the ending and it could also have been more expressively cleared up on a few points as to the conclusion of the story but you will get to nuances of the ending.
If you don't care about language, just the story, you might enjoy this book. But if you enjoy a well-turned phrase or are irritated by repetition, avoid this one.
