I just finished reading THIEVES AT HEART by Alina Adams in one sitting. This a wonderful regency romance that is witty, heartwarming, and thoroughly enjoyable. Poor, unfortunate Lark Talbot shows up on the Raynes family's doorstep one stormy evening after being "stranded" by her former employer. However, this damsel-in-distress has much more going on in her head than meets the eye...the average eye that is. Damian Moxley has been carefully courting the Raynes' daughter in hopes of absconding with the famed Raynes' diamond. The moment he sets eyes on the seemingly innocent Lark, he's onto her game. Damian is certainly not going to let this amateur chit of a thief undo all of his fine work. Despite his crafty maneuvering and not so subtle threats, however, Lark refuses to back down: that diamond is hers, not matter what that arrogant lout of a man says. What's Damian to do against such persistence? I thoroughly enjoyed watching as Damian and Lark teamed up together to steal the diamond. It was delightful to see how each of them slowly learned to trust one another, and the end was quite fitting. True to the regency form, this book shows no more than a few kisses; nevertheless the spark between Damian and Lark was certainly there. While I generally prefer my romances to be extremely sensual with scorching love scenes, I find I would not change a single thing about this book. With such memorable characters and witty dialogue, I believe I can wholeheartedly recommend THIEVES AT HEART. This is the stuff romance is made of.
