The Thief of Blackfriars Lane was such a delightful surprise as it was the first novel written by Michelle Griep that I've read. Set in 1885 London, it focuses on the dark, gritty areas of the city, and thanks to the descriptive language, I could easily place myself among the dock hands, ne'er-do-wells, pickpockets, and constables in the novel.
The plot was the perfect combination of history, intrigue, action, and romance. I'd love to watch the movie inspired by the world of Jackson Forge and Kit Turner. I will definitely check our Ms. Griep's backlist novels.
