I loved this book. It was interesting how well the past and present were emeshed so well. The plot was great. Some parts like the extensive descriptions of the outdoors reminded me of his previous books.

Terrific writer but ending did not hold up on this story about two complicated men, their friendship and their values.

I think this author's writing style is unusual. It always takes me a bit to get into the story, but then it is well worth it as his characterization is excellant. Story of an unusual man and his closest friend. The man, who becomes a hermit is traced throughout various stages of his life by various people connected to him.
