I LOVED this book, and if you don't mind your kids laughing at you when you cry, or if your kids might actually cry along with you this is a great book about about learning to read and about a patient, loving and caring teacher. It is also about how heartless other kids can be.

This is a fantastic book. Patricia Polacco writes a lot of her books about herself as a child and these books come with an important message. This story is about Tricia who struggles to read as the letters appear differently to her. It isn't until she meets Mr. Falker and he takes the time to teach to her needs that she overcomes her struggle. The story tells of the bond between teachers and students. It also lets students realize that they may struggle with something others find easier and how it is important to think about others feelings.
