Lois Meade runs a cleaning service somewhere in England and reluctantly helps the local detective solve crimes. This is the second of a series involving each day of the week. Unlike Agatha Christie's Jane Marple, Lois gets actively involved in solving modern day crimes like the illegal drug trade and laundering money. I like how the author weaves the difficulties of crime-solving in with daily family life. Lois and husband Derek are average people just trying to make a good life for their children. Lois cannot walk away when crime comes close to home even though she does not especially like working with Detective Cowgill. These books are somewhere between cozies and crime thrillers without lots of gore.

Housecleaning is hard work. Since her job is tailor-made for snooping, Detective Inspector Cowgill convinces Lois to polish up her sleuthing skills once again, against her husband's wishes. But when she discovers another body....and her husband is almost killed in a hit-and-run....Lois becomes more determined than ever to make sure the killer is found and taken out with the trash...

This author is really growing on me. I liked her first in this series, but this second is much much better. Long live ambition and cleaning ladies.

Great mystery. 2nd to the series.
Interesting story. A little slow moving but still tested my mystery solving skills.
I liked Murder on Monday but Terror on Tuesday is even better. Seems the author is getting into the swing of things better.
I enjoyed the entire series; however, I don't understand why she takes so many unnecessary chances. I like learning about the way they live(high tea, etc.).
Good sequel as the character grows. The auther has developed her character very well. Makes you look forward to the next one.
When I read the first book in the series, Murder on Monday, I found it to be lacking a bit in mystery, but I enjoyed the characters so much that I wanted to see where Purser went with them. I also wanted to see if Lois mopped herself into a corner. Having one cleaner constantly stumbling over corpses would be problematic-- just how many people would continue to hire her to clean their houses? I also wondered about Inspector Cowgill insisting on always meeting her in the same place. Lois lives in a small village. No matter how out-of-the-way the meeting place is, sooner or later everyone in the village is going to know what's going on. Purser dealt with both of my questions very well in this second book in the series.

Purser has an excellent cast of characters to work with, and having Lois run her own cleaning company means that she has more time for investigation and an entire crew of cleaners who can help her search for clues. The mystery didn't flag in this second book; although I guessed quite a bit of what was going on, I still didn't have all the plot threads tied and tidied by book's end.
This is a series that I'll be continuing on with, and I'd suggest it to anyone who prefers good characterization, amateur sleuths and cozy mysteries.

2nd in the series, entertaining light reading. I read the first one in the series and enjoyed that one also. I plan to request the third one.
Lois Meade is back in this second installment of this great series. Lois and her family have now moved to a new village and a roomier home. You will find Lois still in the cleaning business, but changes are being made there. Who would kill someone, then stuff their body into the armor of a knight in a fairly unused chapel? And of course, how on earth does Lois manage to find it? Great character development in this book, a lot of humor, and a great plot line. Super read on any day ~ not just Tuesday!

2nd in series...Entertaining story of working class Lois Meade and Detective Inspector Cowgills adventures solving murder...Each story is humorous with intelligent story lines and just the right amount of twists and turns in the plot...highly recommended for folks who like to follow the same characters from book to book.

I like this author's books. The plot is interesting and keeps your interest trying to determine the culprit. The recipes in the back are good to try also.
