So Slow and predictable storyline that I kept looking at the cover to make sure it was a Julia London book!
I have to say that I am a big fan of hers and read everything she has but this one truly missed the mark in more than one way.
The storyline is overdone-unmarried lass full of spirit-dark mysterious duke-duke has a young ward-dukes wife is missing, gone, murdered?, duke and lass fall in love-wife comes back to life-duke is miserable with wife-duke and lass reunite and all is right with the world. Blah blah blah.
I skipped from page 202 to 270 and didn't miss A THING! (I did go back and skim to make sure and yup, I was right).
All others in this series were great, maybe should have stopped it before this one. Very disappointed but will read the next one hoping for better results.

"Tempting The Laird" by Julia London 2018 (Highland Grooms #5)
Catriona MacKenzie was an independent Highland gal with a sparkle in her eye and the truth on her tongue. Unmarried (she found herself) and having just lost her favorite Aunt Zelda, she was manipulated into going to her Uncle Knox (Lord Norwood) for a visit.
While visiting her Uncle at Dungotty, she met the Duke of Montrose whose seat was the great estate Blackthorn Hall. There were rumors that he killed his wife. Being as she was sooo bored and curious she decided she wanted to know what really happened. We all know what curiosity does- it kills the cat- but in this case curiosity stirred passions in Catriona that she never believed she would experience and Hamlin Montrose was the man for the job. Great Book!
