Summary: Soâ¦you'd think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark's life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions. Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal. Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn't go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul?
OMG. I literly put that book down about two and a half seconds ago and actually pretty much threw it as I closed the last page. I am extremely disappointed in this book. It tells the reader basically nothing they didn't know before, it felt like filler, nothing but words to fill up the empty space between books. It was entertaining and an ok story but it did absolutely nothing for the plot of the series. I am completely depressed by this, there were plenty of opportunities to expand the story and plot line and to make it more fascinating (vamp high council, come on) and *SPOILER* to kill off Heath at the last second of the story as well as freaking crash out Zoey in the last paragraph...I mean I know she isn't dead but that was unnecessary.*END SPOLIER* The book started out way out of sync from the last book in my opinion as well, it was almost like I totally missed something, even though it started exactly where the last book left off. Then as it progressed, the book was mainly nothing more that Zoey arguing about her boyfriends, the same as the last book, and then doing one or two things here and there. I fell in love with this series from Marked and I really think this book is what killed it for me, I might re-read it and try again, or I might hang up my hat and not continue on with Zoey Redbird's boyfriend misadventures.

OKay. I tried...really tried to enjoy this book. However, I feel there is no progression in the characters. Zoey isn't growing for me! She is stuck in the same pattern of which guy do I choose: The Warrior who died yet didn't, the Vampire I screwed over after he turned, or the Human guy I keep imprinting with. Freaking decide already! Jeebs! Also, I hate how they took certian characters and destroyed them in my eyes. I am over it. I wont be continuing this series for the simple fact that I need the characters to progress...not just the plot.

This series surprised me. It is marketed to teens and written about teen vampires, but the books have a more mature theme and dialogue to them than most of the books of the teenage genre. Written in the first person, it does give a more clear idea of what is going on in the main character's head. There are a lot of creepy elements including dark magic, invoking evil spirits and blood rituals. Warning: the characters in this book are teenagers who are quite promiscuous (even includes teacher/student and child/adult sexual relationships). Good story, good writing, not a great idea for young teenagers or those that would be offended by the sex and dark magic issues.

This book in the House of Night series is one of my favorites, aside from Hunted. It has everything in it: drama, romance, action, suspense... In one day, I read every chapter except the last one--only because i didnt want it to end. i waited until the next morning before i read the last part, and then i wanted to read the whole book all over again. i cant wait until Burned comes out. i have to say that i love house of night a hundred times more than i liked twilight. it has more drama, more romance...just MORE. (ive been a 100% STARK fan since day 1, and he just becomes more and more desirable throughout each and every book!) Anyone who loved the romance, the drama, and the excitement of the first 5 books will definitely love Tempted.
