Tracy Anne Warren writes a sweet and romantic Regency tale of a physically and emotionally wounded war veteran and a lonely young woman whose family are all deceased.
Cade Byron was captured and tortured by the French. He has come home carrying the burden of terrible guilt, a bum leg, and near constant pain. The author doesn't dwell on his obvious PTSD but instead slowly builds a romance between Cade and Meg, a young woman who has had enough experience with men in the military (her father was an Admiral) that she takes no guff from him.
The book also introduces the other Byron siblings whom will probably all eventually have their own books but without so much detail that the next book couldn't stand alone.
Nice steamy sensuality in the book, nothing too explicit but enough to keep you warm. Warren didn't get into too many historical details about the period, enough to ensure you knew your space and time, but not as much as Lisa Kleypas or Lorretta Chase. It could be seen as a weakness of the story but I found the interaction between the characters interesting enough to not mind the lack of other diversions in the story.

Typical Regency romance. You can read the first three chapters and the last three chapters and know the whole story.

A fun romantic book that keeps you guessing and turning the pages quickly! Lots of action and tension with a wonderful storyline to go with it. A really fun read.

I found this to be a typical historical romance nothing special and no surprises. Orphan poor gal stumbles upon rich guy (duke's sibling) and she fall in love immediately. He fights it and tries to get her married off to someone else...anyone else until he realizes that he loves her himself. Blah blah blah.
Loved it. Great find since I was running out of Regency authors!
