Tom Sexton is a Reacher-like former military drifter, who is finally starting to settle because of his girlfriend Stella. Though he has tried to leave the past behind him, his quiet life in a small town with a near minimum wage job is disrupted when he receives a call from his former commanding officer.

Tom is asked to help locate another former marine, Charlie Cahill, who is in trouble. Cahill also tried to make a new life for himself by devoting his life to philanthropy, but when an attempt is made on his life and the woman he loves is killed, he goes on a rogue mission of vengeance.

The hunt for Cahill forces Tom back into a world of violence, betrayal, and terrorism.

The Temporary Agent is a fast-paced thriller that would make a good movie: there are plenty of fire fights and chase scenes. Tom Sexton will appeal to fans of Jack Reacher, and readers of Vince Flynn and Brad Thor will appreciate the military and patriotic themes.

My main quibble with this book is the excessive mentioning of Tom's Kindle: I don't know if Amazon paid the author or provided some other incentive, but if it is product placement, it is awkwardly done.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing an advanced electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
