Save the world, Save Sonny, Save the theatre, Save yourself. Tyff's advice pretty much sums up Kelley's role in Tempestuous, the third and final installment in the Wondrous Strange trilogy by Lesley Livingston. Kelly has lied about not loving Sonny because she feels it is the best way to protect him from the truth and those that would hunt him down for his abilities. Sonny takes off and finds himself drawn underground to a world inhabited by Lost Fae. One little lie brings everything together and sets both Kelley and Sonny on the path to not only finding the truth about their enemies, but the truth about themselves.
I really enjoyed the end of this trilogy. Livingston goes beyond wrapping everything up in a neat package and shows that her characters really have grown during their journey. Both Kelley and Sonny learn from mistakes made in earlier parts of the their respective stories and even the Fae Royals are able to admit some wrongdoings. Overall, the entire series was highly entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of the Shakespeare references/parallels in each story. Livingston writes her characters as complicated, yet trusting and inexperienced young people. Kelley really grows from the somewhat insecure young actress into a young woman worthy of being Fae royalty. Sonny also matures from the blind, trusting young guard into a man who sees beyond the surface of people and begins to understand their natures. I am sorry to see the story end, but it does end well. I look forward to see what else this author has to offer in the future.

I dont love Sonny Flannery.
Sonny cant get these words out of his head. He thought that Kelley, his faerie princess, was the only one for him. Now, he doesnt know what to believe.
He retreats underground, where the Lost Fae congregate. Deep within the heart of New York City, Sonny tries to make sense of what has happened. Kelley is also distraught. Forced to lie about her true feelings for Sonny, she desperately searches for the one who wants to steal his magick.
Kelley is afraid that Sonnys power may destroy him, but she is running out of time, and she is still learning how to use her own talents. And why are innocent faeries being killed by Janus Guards? Too many questions and not enough answers. Does Kelley possess the strength and courage to save her people and Sonny?
Livingstons third installment in her WONDROUS STRANGE faerie series does an excellent job of tying up loose ends. These books are distinctly hers. If you are a fan of the recent influx of faerie novels, you will know what I mean. Livingston adds her own style and flavor to the traditional faerie stories. She even incorporates Shakespeare and his works into her tales. Shakespeares The Tempest plays a vital role throughout the story.
You may be sad to see Kelley and Sonnys story end, but it will be interesting to see what Livingston gives us next!

This was the third, and final, book in the Wondrous Strange series. I am going to be honest and said that this hasn't been my favorite series, I always really think I am going to like the books and then I read them and feel like, eh whatever. I ended up feeling similar with this book. It tied everything up nicely but I had a lot of trouble engaging with the characters and the story and felt strangely ambivalent to it all.
This book picks up where the second one left off. The theater has burned down and Kelley has chased Sonny away by telling him she doesn't love him or want him around. Kelley wants to keep the fact that Sonny is carrying around Green magic a secret, even from him. But someone is taking out the Lost Ones and seems to have it out for the Hunter and Kelley needs to figure out who. She also has to deal with the loss of the theater and the new play the group is trying to put on despite the loss of their venue. Meanwhile Sonny seeks sanctuary with some of the Lost Ones and learns some disturbing secrets.
The book moves at a good clip and has some good twists and turns. Sonny and Kelley are on again, off again as in previous books. All of the different pieces of the story are nicely tied up. So overall the book was technically fine.
I always think I love this series and then when I read the next book in it, I am always a bit disappointed. I don't really like any of the characters, I have trouble finding them engaging or interesting. I always feel like the chemistry between Sonny and Kelley just isn't there. The writing style is a bit too simplistic to me and I never feel like I am really able to picture the surroundings or really feel drawn into the story. The author tries to tie in Kelley's acting with all of her faerie involvement, and she kind of does in the beginning...but then the theater stuff is dropped as the faerie action ramps up.
Overall I think if you liked the previous books in the series then you will really love this book. I wasn't a huge fan of the previous books and this book was similar; it finishes the story well enough but I had some trouble staying engaged in it and really caring about what the characters did. In the future I probably won't pick up any more series by Livingston there is just something about her writing style that doesn't click with me. I have a similar problem with Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series. I personally would recommend Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series over this one if you are interested in a YA series featuring faeries.

I must say that was disappointed at the conclusion of this entertaining series. The first half of the book is really tedious. Kelley dumped Sonny (for his own good) and he wanders lost for a good 100 pages while Kelley is despondent and mopey for the same 100 pages. We finally get some action around page 125. and for a while it was exciting and dangerous. But the ending was rushed and unlikely given the animosity between the Faerie courts. I think this conclusion could have been handled better and more realistically. Disappointed but glad the series is over since I'm not sure I could read another one.
