The three books in this series combine to tell a fascinating story that I enjoyed. My only complaint about this book, as well as the second book, is that there is no recap of what happened in the previous book and as time had passed between reading the books in the series, I found myself totally lost in the beginning, trying to remember who all the characters are and what the situation was when the previous book ended. I think the story would have been more powerful if printed as one single volume instead of broken up into three volumes. Because of that, I would recommend that you read the books in the series back to back to avoid the confusion I felt. But having said all that, Beverly Lewis is on form in this book and others in the series and does tell a compelling story.

This is probably my least favorite series of Beverly Lewis books that I have read. To me this one is too predictable and the end is seen really long before you read the third book. That being said, I enjoy an Amish story, the story is so well written that you can easily envision the farm and the valley. If you read the first two in the series, likely you know what is going to happen, but pick up the third to find out how it all comes together.
