I really enjoyed Una Mannion's first book, A Crooked Tree. It was a coming of age novel with well-drawn characters.
This book seemed disjointed and confusing. Neesa essentially gives up her life when her sister, Deena, disappears. Ruby is likable as Deena's daughter, who's being raised by a critical and controlling father. I wanted to like this book, but couldn't get past wanting Neesa to work on her depression.
