I really enjoy K.K. Beck's novels. While she has several series with one to four books in them, the rest of her novels follow no set pattern except they are highly entertaining.
This book contains four short stories and one story which was published separately as a novel. Of the 284 pages in the book only 90 pages are shared by the four short stories, and the rest is the novel "Peril Under the Palms." So, if you enjoy Beck, and haven't read that novel, then this book will save you the credit you might have spent on that.
I only have four of her novels left to read, and one apparently is a very hard-to-find-unless-you-are-willing-to pay-big-bucks book.
Since she was born in 1950---making her slightly younger than I---and the last book she wrote was published in 2015---the series with just one book---I suspect she isn't writing any more. Alas!
