I remember this book as a child. This use of onomatopoeia, repeated words and rhyming made this book fun to read. For example: "Bill heard some feet running...thump, themp, thump...and smaller feet...thumpety, thumpety, thumpety." Other examples. "start fast - jerk-whizz" "stop fast - squeak-jerk" "We're terribly late and the train won't wait" "We're a speedy pair, we'll surely get you there" My children liked to hear this book time and again.
