This book was extraordinarily well-written. Carey effortlessly intertwines the lives of the vastly different characters, and they are all charmingly cartoonish. But as charming and hilarious as parts of the book are, the underlying plot focuses on a cycle of child sexual abuse within the Catchprice family that ultimately leads to its ruination- a hidden Greek drama. This could have been a magnificent read but for the fact that some scenes were so disturbing I can't get them out of my head. A little too dark and twisted for my taste.
