My family and I will be going to Pennsylvania soon and we plan on being in the Amish area for about a week. I thought it would be a great idea to read as many books about the Amish culture and people as I could before our trip. I began with books that were helpful, and eye opening, but until I read Wanda's book, the Tattered Quilt, I don't think that I had gotten into the depth of the Amish beliefs.

This novel gives you the background of the Amish customs and their faith and tells the story of multiple people which is very helpful in getting to know about this culture in broad terms. No two characters in this book have similar stories and the variety of subjects covered is remarkable. Emma is the main character in my estimation and I love the messages that she emits as well as the lessons learned from all of the book subjects. The story has twists and turns and a bit of a romantic element but this book in no way would be one that anyone could find unsuitable for any reader. With Wanda's love of the higher power in her life, that is emitted to her characters in many ways and her books are down to earth and refreshing.

From reading Wanda's book, my upcoming trip is already being made more wonderful just from me knowing much more of what to expect when we visit.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series as I learned so much from this book and want to find out more of Amish life with future books.

Thank you for you insight and depth in your characters, Wanda, as this makes them seem like people you just may meet in Lancaster Country or any other Amish settlement in the US.

I recommend this book to everyone and all ages.
