Ravenloft series as a whole is rather dark and depressing. This was one of the better Ravenloft books I have read, simply because it gave the reader a sense of hope that good just might win at the end. My young nephew loves these books, but I like to read them so I know what he is being exposed to. I found it quite entertaining.
