I really enjoyed this book! I started reading Rachel Gibson just about a year ago and I still haven't read all of her books. It was a great story and I didn't feel that the characters emotions were too over the top; they were very relatable. She also uses many references that make you feel like it's happening in the here and now; like maybe a song that you would literally hear on the radio, if you listened to country music anyway. And I have to say it, the sex scenes were awesome! At one point I was like "Go head girl!!!" Usually women aren't portrayed as strongly as Maddie was.

Loved it!!!

I loved this and all of the other books in the series (four in all). Rachel Gibson's book are easy to read and hard to put down. You are going to fall in love with Maddie and her best friends. This book is actually #3 in the series.
1. Sex, Lies, and Online Dating (Lucy's Story)
2. I'm in no Mood for Love (Clare's Story)
3. Tangled up in You (Maddie's Story)
4. Not Another Bad Date (Adele's Story)

The girls are all best friends who are all writers in different genres. The most clever thing is the genre that each writes in somehow play a part in their individual stories.

Maddie Dupree goes to Truly, ID to find the real story of what happened in her mother's death. The only thing blocking her way is Mick Hennessey. When Mick finds out why Maddie is really in Truly, will he stick around??

This was an ok book. I've read all of Gibson's book and this one seems to be written in a hurry. I came across a few grammatical mistakes and one Chevy Maverick (Ford made the Maverick). Possible the editor was having an off day too! It was a quick read with a steamy hero.

Maddie returns to Truly, Idaho where she had suffered tragedy as a child. She is now a true crime writer who is writing her own family's story. Mick Hennessy was also affected deeply by the tragedy when he was a child. Can these two learn to trust each other despite their joint tragic past? This book has Gibson's typical romance but here she adds a note of seriousness making it a really good read.

Oh wow! Gibson's best book yet! Series from Clare's wild book. Maddy goes to Truly to find a bit more than her story.

This was a very fun book. I just wish the ending would have had a little more detail but was still a very good book.

Meh. I have never read this author before, though I have a lot of her books on my TBR pile.

The story concerns a murder that happened in the town of Truly around 20 years ago. The murder/suicide devastates the children of 2 families, and one of them, who is a true crime writer, comes back to town to write the story of what happened.

She falls in love with the man whose mother killed her own mother. And does not tell him who she is. For most of the book.

It's not a terribly dark book, despite the murder angle, but there were a few things that bugged me. There was a thread with a secondary character that was never developed and things wrapped up just a little too neatly.

Not a challenging read, but one to pass some time.

I really think this is the best book out of the four in the series. Given there are a few grammatical errors but I find them a lot in Gibson's books. I think she just needs to get a better editor.

The story was intriguing to me. Basically Maddie Dupree returns to the town where her mother was killed by the angry wife of the man she was having an affair with. Maddie's plan was to write a true crime book about it. But things get complicated because Maddie starts having an affair with the son of killer wife and cheating husband.

There were some touching moments and Gibson gave a great view of how the three children orphaned by the tragedy dealt with life. But there were also a lot of humor and witty banter between Maddie and Mick. Even though I really enjoy most of Gibson's books, I think dialogue is where she is usually the weakest. This book has some great dialogue.

This is a great, quick book and fun to read.

This was my least favorite out of the Writer Friends series. I just could not get into it...I'm not sure if it was the main character or the story line or what, but I had a hard time getting through it. I loved all the other books though!

True crime author Maddie Dupree has moved to Truly, Idaho, to write about a murder-suicide that took place twenty nine years ago. There were many stories at the time of the incident. Maddie wants to uncover the truth, especially since one of the victims was her mother. But there is one family standing in her way. Mick Hennessey and his sister, Meg, have lived with the fact that their mother shot and killed their father and his lover when they were small children. They don't want Maddie stirring up old stories about their family. Even though Mick doesn't want Maddie writing this book, he is attracted to her and wants to get to know her better. Will he still feel that way when he learns how Maddie is tied to his past?

This is an entertaining contemporary romance with some steamy scenes. All of the characters in this book are very likable. Maddie is a person with very set ideas. She doesn't want to get married. She doesn't even want a pet. Her views change as the story goes on. Mick is a guy that women, including Maddie, find irresistible. He is upset about the book and is worried how the gossip will affect his sister. But that isn't going to stop him from getting involved with Maddie.

This book is part of Gibson's Truly Idaho series. It is also part of her Writer Friends series. I enjoyed the book so now I'm going to have to catch up on both of these series. My rating: 4 Stars.

MADDIE DUPREE ISN'T IN TRULY, IDAHO, LOOKING FOR A HUSBAND, A BOYFRIEND OR ANYTHING IN BETWEEN.
Maddie is determined to uncover the untold story about the town's sordid past--her past. As a child, Maddie lost everything, and now she's back at the scene of the scandal--a local establishment that's always belonged to the Hennessys--determined to uncover the truth, and nothing is going to stand in her way. Especially not a black-haired, blue-eyed Hennessy.
Everyone in Truly knows that the Hennessy men are irresistible, and the current owner, Mick, is no exception. His late father was a skirt-chasing heartbreaker who ended up causing disaaster to two families. But Maddie is keeping secrets, not the least of which is her true reason for being in town. And when Mick discovers what's really going on there is going to be a whole lote of trouble in Truly.
