Robert Parker is incomparable when it comes to a fast, smooth read, with even faster wit. I want to be Spenser when I grow up!

This one was particularly touching - NEVER go wrong with a Spenser novel!

Start from the beginning with the 1st Spenser novel, The Godwulf Manuscript. There are over 30 Spenser novels in print! Also try one of the other series, Jesse Stone (starts with Night Passage) or Sunny Randall (lady P.I. Spenser-esque, starts with Family Honor).

Back of Book--
Nice girls don't. But blonde, beautiful April Kyle does. She's a hooker hooked on the wrong guy-- and she's on her way to trouble. And so's Spenser. Looking out for April has landed him amid the sleaze of Times Square and the shady deals of big-business boardrooms where blood money is laundered into long green, sex is a commodity, and young girls are the currency.

I have enjoyed every Robert B. Parker book I've read and this one was no exception. In fact, this was one of his best as far as I'm concerned.

Early Parker novel but a very good read. The same wit is there. I love this author.

Susan Silverman is back in Spenser's life with minimal mention of what she put him through in the last few books. Happy together, they find little time to do any real cooking. The problem is an old one: April Kyle, the teenage prostitute Spenser saved in "Ceremony" has left Patricia Utley's call girl service to turn tricks for Robert Rambeaux, her current lover. Spenser does some investigating but before he gets too far April disappears, Rambeaux is beaten up by someone and one of the hookers he intereviewed is murdered. Yes, there is much more to the case than meets the eye. This is Spenser novel picks up after "Ceremony" when Spencer and Susan were planning to take April to meet Mrs. Utley. Now Spenser has has another chance to help April. While "Taming a Sea-Horse" might seem to cover some ground Parker has covered before, there is some sort of twist. It's good to catch up with Spenser and his detective adventures again.

Good, solid, quick read for a rainy day. Not the best of the Spencer series but informative about the prostitution slave trade.
