As the boats made the turn, they nearly collided. There was a moment of confusion as the sails were adjusted for the new direction, and Chris was sure he saw someone fall off the boat that made the widest turn. At least, he thought he saw a bright yellow life jacket tumble over the side of the boat. He rubbed his eyes to make sure, but he couldn't see anyone in the water. He expected the boat to stop, but it kept right on going. Chris realized he was the only one who had seen anything. He rubbed his eyes again, trying to decide what to do.
