This was the first time for me reading Brockmann. I've always been curious about her books but haven't made the time to read her. I'm glad I did. Her books are quite fun and very fast paced. Her characterizations are strong and story line intriguing. There was just enough romance and danger to keep you going.

From what I gather, this book is a re-release of Brockmann's earlier Tall, Dark, and Dangerous series. This collection contains two short books: The Admiral's Bride and Identity unknown.

Problems I have with the stories are that have too many similarities. The ultimate themes were men didn't want to get close to women, women insisted, and men conceded. There are certain phrases and descriptions, especially in the love scenes, that were word for word the same. But they were riveting stories which kind of made up for it.

I love that in "Admiral's Bride" I can really understand Jake's hesitation to jump into a relationship with Zoe. Sometimes when a story involves one member chasing the other, the reasons the chased give for not wanting the relationship is really lame. Not in this case. Everything makes sense. Even though I think this is supposed to be the 6th or 7th story in the series, I think it gave a great introduction to some of the other characters.

I usually hate amnesia plots but "Identity: Unknown" was a good tale. I guess it's because Mitch didn't get all melodramatic every time he didn't recall his past. He just rolled with what he got. Becca's personality was very similar to Zoe's but she was great in her own way. I wanted a little bit more in the end but I guess I will have to read the other ones to see if Brockmann revisits this couple. There are cameos here from the other books so you get a little more about where they have been since "Admiral's Bride."

I will definitely continue reading this series.
