As she describes herself, Keye Street is a "detective, private, a bail recovery agent, a process server, and a former criminal investigator analyst for the FBI." She was also fired --- the FBI likes their profilers sober.
Now 4 years sober, she has her own private investigations business and on occasion consults with the Atlanta Homocide Department when asked nicely. She also has a personal relationship with Aaron Rauser, homocide detective.
Keye has been called by Sheriff Ken Metzer to a small mid-Georgia town to help with a possible serial killer who has kidnapped, raped, tortured, and mutilated 2 teenage girls whose bodies have just been found.
This is the third in a series (The Stranger You Seek, Bk 1 and Stranger In The Room, Bk 2). The author has done a terrific job in that you dn't neccesarily have to read the books in order. She puts enough information into the 2nd and 3rd books so you get a hint of what has gone on before, without repeating half the previous book.
The characters are finely tuned and greatly diversified. Keye is half-Chinese and was adopted by a very southern white couple and also has an adopted African-American brother. Put Keye in the middle of a very small Georgia town and you just know there are going to be sparks.
I give this book 5 stars ..... very well written, descriptions of a hot, humid Georgia are spot-on. The secondary characters are people I would love to hang out with. And it is quite obvious she has done her homework when it comes to police procedure and serial killers.
Don't Talk To Strangers gets a solid 5 stars from me (as well as the first 2 books in this series). Now it's just a toe-tapping waiting period for the next one.
