The heroine in this story, Molly, is a horny, catty, hot mess hiding from her past, playing games and lying to everyone around her. The hero, Ben, is her older brother's good friend and deserves someone who can be honest with herself and him. From the get-go the book was a slow read with endless pages of sex scenes (which I don't mind, but this girl never took the time to seriously talk with him through the first 3/4 of the book), which leads me to the fact that there was no relationship development (other than the premise of their shared teenage years), and then the repetitious use of the "he won't love me if I tell him" line of reasoning to excuse her constant lies (outright and by omission). Never fear though, the story has a happy ending (of course). Even given all of this, I am still hopeful that the rest of the series will be good reads.
Great start to a great series! Molly is fun, high spirited, and a writer of erotic romance. Her parents have always preferred her older brother's kind of success (great SAT scores, architect, athlete) so her career is a total secret. Her first book was written about Ben, now the town police chief. Molly moves back to town to escape a crazy ex and get over writer's block. Ben helps with both of those issues, but will he be able to handle her secret?
