Excellent anthology! I am a sucker for tales that end badly and this short story collection did not disappoint in that department...and even the "happy" endings had a twist.
I think the best stories (out of many that were very very good) were: "The House of a Hundred Windows" (very much like a Poe story I thought), "The Briar at the Window" (grim justice in a dark and evil world), "The Freak" (a fantastic Headless Horseman tale), and "Dark Tryst" (a haunting tale of love and perhaps a need to belong). Other great stories was "Sight and Sound", "The Judgement of Abd-Al-Mamat", and "The Rigor of the Game".
It should be noted that all the stories were worth reading at least once, and most of them were fairly short (15 to 20 pages) which I liked. Also, there is 19 stories in total...so you get a wide variety of stories. I give this collection 5 stars out of 5!
