This is a wonderful collection of fairy tales from the Harry Potter world. Unlike our "and they lived happily ever after" type of stories, these don't usually end up that way. There are lessons to the stories that are both true for the magical world and the muggle world as well. The drawings in the book are done by J.K. herself and they are wonderful to look at. Though the book is a quick short read, the comments by Dumbledore will bring a smile to your face and the tales are rather interesting and beg you to keep reading onward. J.K. has done it again in writing a wonderful book and I wish she would keep writing more books about the Harry Potter world.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a nice collection of five wizarding fairy tales. This book was left to Hermione Granger by Professor Dumbledore and comes in quite handy in the seventh book of the Harry Potter series; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The Tales was a nice trip back to the world of Hogwarts but one can only hope that there will be more. The book was very short, but Dumbledore's commentary on the Tales was great. It felt as if you were reconnecting with him.

Rowling is amazing. She has created this huge world that you get yourself sucked right into. It's pretty cool, actually. I could hear these stories being told to the kids in the school at Hogwarts. I could SEE the kids, the school. The author is truly talented, there's no doubt about it, but I also sometimes wonder if she isn't also a witch herself... I know I'm completely under her spell ;)
This is a must read for all Potter fans. Dumberdore's notes alone make it a great read with some additional insight into the "Magical World of Harry Potter".

I will say this...J.K. Rowling has one hell of an imagination. Not only did she create the magical world that is Harry Potter but now she takes that imagination even further in creating the fairy tales of Beedle the Bard. Not entirely what I was expecting but it entertained me for the 30 minutes it took me to read the entire book.
Simply a great book. It gives you insight into Dumbledore that the other books never did. Great book.

Thirsty for more.
These short children stories based on the wizzarding world of Harry Potter are refreshing. A quick read, with foot notes and commentary by Dumbledore. I look forward to sharing these short tales with my children. There is one that is a bit gruesome that I will probably hold back. The lessons taught in these stories are still fundamentals that apply. I loved reading this and was delightfully surprised at the philosophy behind the tales. My only complaint is that I am thirsty for more.

Five short fairy tales, which were pretty well done (most had happy endings), I think everyone over 15 should skip the commentary by Albus Dumbledore (however, you will learn the name of his brother). The fairy tales could have been written down on a moderate sized envelope or pamphlet, but then she couldn't have sold them for as much.

This is just as I expected it to be: thin on content, simple, short, the appeal primarily because of the "Potter connection"provided by comments by Professor Dumbledor. I'd read Rowling wrote the first draft of these tales prior to the first Potter book, then after thier success the publisher decided to have her revise and Potter-ize them for a follow-up to the series. It worked, a great many copies were sold.

In the tradition of the earlier supplemental books "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and "Quidditch Through the Ages", this slim volume was first encountered within the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", where the so-called fairy-tale of the Three Brothers was revealed. Now, with this complete volume, author J. K. Rowling explores The Tale of the Three Brothers along with 4 other classic fairy-tales from her Wizarding world in the Harry Potter books. The stories themselves are at turns fun, exciting, and dark, and hold all the same charm and wit that the actual Harry Potter books do, but the supplements by adored character Albus Dumbledore reveal magical history and other unrevealed canon information that any fan of Harry Potter will quickly absorb. A really fun book!
Love all the Harry Potter book's and I think this was a grat addition to them. Letting readers know more about the fairy tales talked abou in the main books.

For the most part, the stories were not very memorable, and the notes written at the end of some of them, supposedly Dumbledore's thoughts about the tales, were too dry. I am glad that all the proceeds go to charity. I guess you can't expect much for a book the author didn't think would be published, or did she?

A fun addition to the world of Harry Potter, this book is purportedly a re-translated (by Hermione Granger) collection of Wizarding Fairy Tales with commentary by Dumbledore and footnotes by both Dumbledore and J.K. Rowling. This is a very short book, but the principal is clever and the stories are cute.
(The only real detracting factor of this book for me personally is that I don't care for the politics involved - I will not buy a copy of this book because I have no desire to help The UN Rights of Child - which has been used to take homeschooled children away from their parents in countries that have ratified it. I would rather not know that my fiction needs are being met but then feeding a political agenda I diagree with. However, that just means I wouldn't purchase it; it in no way takes away from my enjoyment of the stories.)

This was definitely not the quality that I was expecting from the author. Whereas the few stories in it were okay, I found that the commentaries between them by Dumbledore were nothing more than a waste of paper that the author merely used in order to fill pages. I also thought that her adding herself into the story as a type of editor was just tacky. She didn't do it for the Harry Potter series, so why start now? It would have been much better using another made up character from the HP world.
Overall, it was a bit of a disappointing book and even though it was published for a good cause, the effort should have been much better in order to represent that cause.

Loved these quick "Fairy Tales". Dumbledore's notes tie in the Harry Potter world nicely. Some shameless promotion for the Harry Potter series, but who cares! The book benefits a charity!

This was an entertaining read. It was nice to be back in the world of Harry Potter for a little while, and it definitely makes me want to go back and read the series over again. My one complaint about the book is the fact that it's SUPER short. Given how long the later HP books were, I expected a bit more from Rowling in this book. Overall, the stories were nice, but I wish the book was longer--maybe longer stories or more of them.
A very good book. It will only take you 30 minutes to read it, but it's still very enjoyable. I especially enjoyed Dumbledore's comments on the stories. Boy, di I miss having a brand new Harry Potter book to curl up on the couch with!

I am not usually a huge fan of harry potter, but everyone I meet has read it and practically shoves it down my throat. It's everywhere, a good writer always sucks you in.
