I was disappointed with this book for a number of reasons. First, it didn't seem to give equal attention to each valley, it was much more focused on the author's experience living in Sonoma. I don't know if he even spent time living in napa. Secondly, the timeline seemed to jump around a lot, making it hard to follow the story. And lastly, there were a lot of characters, only a few of which were well developed enough to keep me interested in the story. At this point (2013) the story is quite dated, so not worth reading. I thought it was going to be more of a historical look, instead it was more of a short personal story. Could see it more as a long article in a travel mag, not a book.

Darn! I lived near Sonoma for 4 years, and I never met the rambunctious chickens!
