This is an unusual story of a prison guard, Gabrielle, following an escaped convict into the desert. Staying alive becomes their common goal & an unexpected relationship develops. I put off reading this for a long time but enjoyed it when I finally decided to see what it was all about.

A really interesting story of a man falsely accused of murder and a female prison guard. From trying to survive inside the prison to trying to survive in the hot Arizona desert, these two have to depend on one another and try to clear his name.
This was Brenda Novak's second full-length novel and I was gripped from the start.

This was a really well written story that grabs the reader and pulls you right in. It was definitely one that I couldn't put down and thought about afterwards. Gabrielle Hadley is working as a prison officer in order to support her child and to be in vicinity of the birth mother who gave her away. She interrupts the beating of convict Randall Tucker and subsequently is picked to transfer him to another prison. During this transfer he escapes and they end up trying to survive in the desert together. When Gabby becomes convinced that Tucker is innocent her moral dilemma begins. Recommended!
I really liked this a book a lot. I have it on my keeper shelf.
