I thought it was a good book. It has recieved som bad reviews, but it kept me turning pages. I kept waiting to figure out what the heck was going on.
One of my favorite Koontz books. Rich story with deep characters. Very suspenseful. You really don't know what's going on until the end.
I am a Dean Koontz fan. I feel that he consistently writes great horror stories that tap into everyone's more primal fears. This book is no different in that respect. It had me so scared that I had to keep looking over my shoulder as I read it. In the book, the world is being taken over by an unbeatable "alien" force that is as sadistic as it is purely evil.
I'd heard that, at some point, Mr. Koontz had a deeply religious experience or conversion and that, as a result, his more recent books had a definite religious or spiritual bent to them. I guess it must be true, because this book began to get that "feel" to me about two thirds of the way through and, sure enough, the last chapter confirmed my suspicions. He tied the whole thing up very neatly through biblical references.
I wouldn't let that turn you off of Mr. Koontz, though, if that's not your bag. Believe me, the book was SCARY and the horrible things that happened to people were just as horrible as they were in his "pre-religious experience" books. He's still one of the best in the business as far as I'm concerned and I'll continue to enjoy the chills down my spine that he so wonderfully produces.
Started good then by the middle it got repetitious and draggy and preachy.
I went to Amazon to read reviews and had to laugh--150+ one stars, more than 5 stars! Pay attention to some reviews and this is one of them.
A fantastic read. It was yet another book by Koontz that I absolutely could not put down!
One of Koontz's best...edge of your seat excitement; couldn't put this one down!
I like this book very much. Not as intense as some of Koontz's others, but still good.
I was hooked from the first chapter. The way that everything in the world can be over turned by such beauty and mesmerizing amazement. And then slowly taken over by terror, death, suicide and murderous actions...only to leave the world with what I think as the morally right. Traversing across the country with only things you would think of in your darkest dreams and then being slowly captivated by the "new world"...where everything is as you make it. Seriously Dean Koontz at his best. I've read it at least 10 times & can not get enough!
This is my favorite of Koontz novel so far! It kept you guessing up until the very end.
Interesting & attention grabbing
