I've read many Cindy Gerard books and enjoyed the danger and excitement that she writes into her stories. This was very slow to start and never really reeved up to what I expect from her books.
I will still read her future books. One mediocre book won't keep me away.

I thought this was a great addition to the series, book 2.
I thought Abbie handled everything that was thrown at her pretty well, and Sam didn't let his vengence shadow the need to keep her safe and do what was right.. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes some "bang bang shot 'em up" with their romance :)

Sam Lang, ex-Delta Force sniper, is on a mission to find the man responsible for the death of his sister and her husband. When Cory Hughes's name repeatedly comes up as a mole for the deadly Frederick Nader, Sam goes after Cory's sister, Abbie, for information. Sam and Abbie hit it off immediately, making it that much more painful for Abbie to know that she has been used by Sam for information. Abbie claims to know nothing about Cory's involvement with Nader, but admits that she is extremely concerned for him. It doesn't take long for Sam to realize that Abbie is much stronger than she looks and when she insists on being part of the search for Cory in Honduras, the danger level rises significantly.
Abbie should have known from the get-go that Sam Lang was too good to be true. Good looks, subtle charm and gentle hands - how could she resist? When she discovers that his interest in her was feigned in the search for her brother, she is crushed. That is, until she got mad. When she joins forces with Sam in the search for Cory, she's introduced to a way of life that she never even knew existed, and has no choice but to put her life in Sam's capable hands.
The quality of romantic suspense by Cindy Gerard can be matched by few. Abbie and Sam are both damaged and so desperately in need of each other's love. The suspense is intense, as is the romance. Sam is out for vengeance, but doesn't let it blind him against how perfect a future with Abbie could be. I highly recommend this book to all who love the excitement and intrigue of well-written romantic suspense.

Good addition to the series, 2nd in the series. However I have mixed feelings about this book. The first half of the book was terrific. Very romantic & hot between the two main characters. And the "I don't ever want to see you again" scene was heart wrenching! But the second half, for me, got a little lost. I felt like the heroine too quickly overlooked the hero's earlier treatment of her. And the hero went from super Alpha male to almost a beta male in the span of a few pages right at the end. Overall I'd give it a B+ though.

Cindy Gerard is a very good author and her romantic suspense series are a good blend of military and covert operations, romance, and really, really bad guys.

The Black Ops Series is a continuation of characters from the Bodyguard Series.

The main character of this story is Sam Lang, ex special forces, now working out of Argentina & Honduras. He is on a mission to revenge his sister's murder. Abbie Hughes hopes to save her brother from bad guys in Honduras. Sam & Abbie work together even though they both suspect each other.

Highly recommend if you like the special forces, action and romance type books.

Tons of excitement, some torture scenes, and the happy ending are in this second book of the Black Ops series. I had some trouble with the hero's early betrayal in the book ("understandable" because his sister had been killed) especially because the heroine really was innocent and knew nothing about her brother's involvement with a very bad South American drug cartel. The good guys pull off his rescue and even help him with the American authorities, so the hero and heroine can wind up happily ever after. I'm looking forward to book 3 which was alluded to in this one.

Sam Lang is on a mission to find (and terminate) the bastard who killed his sister. And nothing will get in his way not even Abbie Hughes. Sam will use Abbie to get to Nader since Abbie's brother is a drug mule for Nader. Abbie turns the tables on Sam though and the race is on to retrieve her brother and kill Nader. Regardless of Sam's tactics, he's one of the good guys who instantly regrets what he's done to Abbie. This is a fast-paced, action-packed thrill ride.

#2 Black Ops. Sam's story. The BOI's are still tracking nefarious criminals and this time it's the international arms dealer, drug trafficker, thieving, killer Nader who has been on the BOI's radar. Tragedy strikes Sam's family and he sets his sights on Abbie, who's brother is working for Nader. Using her for information that she may or may not have has Sam falling for her. Trying to get to the bottom of the investigation has them traveling to Honduras with revenge and death on the mind. All of the BOI's use their cunning & skills to take down Nader & other entities at play. Sam & Abbie fight their attraction for each other and try not to get killed. Meanwhile, Abbie's loyal friend Crystal who spars with BOI Johnny Duane Reed takes a secondary story for a spin off for the next book in the series

A Dangerous Attraction...

Abbie Hughes no longer trusts men, but despite her cool indifference, her long legs and showgirl face still draw plenty of attention. Between working as a blackjack dealer, going to school, and keeping an eye on her younger brother, Cory, there's no time for romantic adventures until the night a sexy, mysterious stranger places a wager at her table.

Spurred by revenge...

Sam Lang left Black Ops, Inc. when tragedy struck his family. Although he's determined to retire his M-16 rifle to lead a quiet life on his ranch, a vengeful quest will send him on a manhunt for the ruthless multimillionaire who murdered his sister.

...Reveals a savage threat they can't ignore.

Though Sam suspects Abbie is in on a lucrative gem-smuggling deal her brother made with the enemy, their attraction is undeniable. Now Cory is missing, and together they search the wild Honduras backcountry to find him. With danger on their trail, they must trust each other completely or face certain death alone....

Let me bein by saying that every reviewer on Amazon gave this book 5 stars. I personally would only give it three. I was expecting it to be just as good as all the previous books I've read by Ms. Gerard but, in my opinion, this book pales by comparison. The characters are "doughy" and the scenes predictable. I checked it out from my local library and am personally glad that I did not pay full price, half price or even postage (here on Paperback Swap). Happy Reading!

Sam Lang left his Black Ops Inc. team when his sister was murdered by Frederick Nader, a well known drug runner and criminal fighting for territory in Honduras. Not wanting to put another member of his family in danger, Sam returns to life at his ranch in Nevada. But it's not long before he discovers there may be a way to take Nader out of the picture. The Black Ops team has uncovered a connection between Nader and Cory Hughes. Cory is a low level mule working for Nader's organization. The team believes Cory and his sister, Abbie Hughes, are smuggling drugs and jewels for Nader. Sam is willing to romance Abbie in hopes she can shed light on Nader's whereabouts.

This was a very entertaining romantic suspense story by Cindy Gerard. Sam believes that Abbie and her brother are the keys to getting his vengeance against Nader. Abbie is worried because she hasn't heard from her brother for several days and fears he has got himself embroiled in another mess. I liked this story and look forward to the next book in the series. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
