This book is great and offers fun (albiet slightly bathroom minded humor) which my children thoroughly enjoyed. The book gives new lyrics to familiar preschool songs. Easy to read or sing along to your children. This book passed muster with both by my preschool age children and ones K-2 ages.

(copied from a couple Amazon reviews, that capture my opinions perfectly. I wish I had read them before I ordered this book. I am going to get rid of this book as soon as possible. There was only one verse of one poem that I was willing to sing aloud to my son. The others were ones I consider inappropriate to teach to impressionable children)

My goodness, is this book ever awful. It's hard to know where to start. First, yes, the "humor" here is crude. I realize that children may find some of these bathroom topics to be funny, but there is just no need to aim for the bottom, so to speak. Poets such as Shel Silverstein are far, far funnier than Katz without ever lowering themselves to this level. Second, Katz shows NO understanding of meter and rhythm. Consider this: "Bobby said, 'Okay, let's vote'/Suzie then grabbed the remote/They were at each other's throats" or this: "My baby-sitter's gonna raid the snacks/Cookies, candy a box of Crack Jack." The result is that the reader/singer constantly trips over the jumbled phrases. This stuff flows like a pile of rocks. Third, Katz also is unconcerned with rhyme. Frankly, these works read as if he spent about 5-10 minutes on each set of lyrics. How else could Katz have attempted to rhyme "they're open" with "better plan," "rest" with "desk," or "mention" with "engine"? Most children don't consciously think of matters such as meter and rhyme, so it might seem that my concerns miss the point. Not so. Kids may not know about meter, but they know bad from good.

this book is nothing but a charmless gross-out with nauseating pictures and junk words. The author, purportedly a "songwriter and comedy writer extraordinaire," (from the cover) needs to ply his trade somewhere else besides books for 2-6 year olds. His foul humor probably is a hit in seedy adult joints, but do you want to feed that quality of talent to your toddler?

I think children already get enough exposure to stupid bathroom humor without contributing to it at home.

My grandchildren loved this book, and as early teens still sing some of the silly dilly songs.
