Yet another proof that not all of us had idyllic childhoods. Sadly I am a member of this group but reading about others strengths and overcoming obstacles helps me tremendously to know you can grow up and be successful no matter how haphazardly you were raised.
An excellent autobiography. Couldn't put it down, although parts were hard to read: this poor guy, the mother, grandmother & "stepfathers" he got stuck with; having 2 family members like the mother & grandmother myself, it really reinforces my opinion that a civilized society would require people who want to have kids "naturally" would have to go through the same application process as those who want to adopt. Nobody (especially a kid) should have to be subjected to family members like them; nobody!
