So I just finished this book (the last of the trilogy), and I suppose I was ultimately just annoyed with this book. While the desire between the two main characters was more convincing than in the others of the series, the plot in this one was so contrived that I just couldn't get past it. In particular, I found the way that the female character was kept an "Angel" by her first husband... I didn't buy it for a minute. And the instant family that so happily came together... There was also one intimate scene that just bordered on force that also bothered me. Just too much for me.

Official book description:
Jared, Viscount Ravenswood, has no choice but to honor the deathbed wish of his servant: that he introduce her soon-to-be orphaned daughter to the notorious Duchess of Clairborne. But this is no ordinary child. She's the key to the Duchess's shocking secrets, and to Jared's own unexpected past.

So: First full length novel from this author I've finished. Overall a pretty good (though short) book. Given both H and h's POV.
Minus some historical inaccuracies, and some "Men are from Mars..." moments, a pretty easy read. Though the second half is better then the first. Without giving away any spoilers (though if you ask I will) the heroine easily gets over something that should have taken quite a bit longer.

I'm surprised this book didn't get better reviews because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I actually enjoyed the mystery part more than the relationship though.

I loved that Calantha went into her "proper" mode whenever things got stressful for her. It made sense. I wished she didn't harp on Jared not loving her every single paragraph though. That did get a little old.
I don't think Calantha needed to be a virgin but it somehow does add to how sick her first husband was. It felt especially good when she stood up for herself.

Jared was very secondary in this book to me. I'm not sure why. He was good for Calantha albiet I found him sexier or more alluring in the second book.

Overall, great easy read. I actually haven't read the first book yet but looking forward to it.
