this book is great! It's funny and a lot of the dialogue is in the characters' minds, including the dog! I've chuckled several times and think it's a very cute sexy read. It's hard to classify though; at first I was comparing her to Vicki Lewis Thompson but this story isn't as cutesy per se since it has some serious elements but still enjoyed it enough I ordered another of her titles from here! and the woman is a size 12 which makes me happier!

Sexy, sizzling and downright funny. Lots of playfully erotic love scenes will keep you entertained.

A cute romance that most dog lovers will get a chuckle out of.

A fun, romance book - it definitely had it's twist and turns. It's nice to see in romance stories that the two characters that will get together eventually, don't get together right away. But then again it's frustrating to see the two characters act like complete idiots about each other, but that's the way the author wants to write it to make the reader feel that way. :p Very good book, I really like this author quite a bit.

A hilarious tale of a small town animal behaviorist recovering from a messy divorce who meets a single cop who inherited a Chinese Crested dog as part of a murder investigation.

Susan Donovan is one of my auto-by authors. This is one of my all-time favorite. It is really funny, sweet, emotional, sexy (not necessarily all at once!) You will thank me after you read it.
Love the dog! A truly enjoyable read.

When an informant is killed, Thomas gets stuck with his butt ugly, bald, neurotic Chinese Crested dog - hoping that somehow the dog could ID the murderer. But the dog is totally freaked so Thomas brings him to Dr. Emma Jenkins, a doggy psychiatrist. The interest is immediate (between Emma and Thomas, not the dog) but they both have serious relationship issues. The ensuing courtship (if you could call it that) is beyond funny.
The first chapter sucks you right in and the hilarious actions (and thoughts) of the dog keep you reading. It's one of those books that you have to know how it ends but don't want it too. I laughed myself silly reading this and the people in the laundromat must have thought I was crazy. Even is you don't like animals, this is one great read.

I picked up this book for a quick, brainless read and didn't expect much. I'm not a fan of sappy romances but was very pleasantly surprised by Take a Chance on Me. The author did a wonderful job incorporating humor into a storyline that includes some rather serious issues and has written a book that is sweet and fun to read.

Emma and Thomas' story was very sweet. However, Hairy, the dog sometimes steals the show. My first book by this author, and I look forward to reading others.

This book touched my heart, particularly the parts from the dog's viewpoint. And it's so funny and sweet. Definitely a keeper.

I just couldn't get into this book at all. The storyline didn't really seem plausible and didn't pull me in.

Hilarious story. An incontinent Chinese Crested named "Hairy" makes this story unique.

The best Susan Donovan book EVER!!!! I was a bit hesitant to read it after reading the back of the book...but, omg, if any author could pull it off with brilliance Susan could!! The dog's thoughts are scattered just enough throughout the book and made me laugh aloud so hard!

This was a readable romance (not my favorite by this author, though). It had a little bit of love at first sight, a little bit of two people working through their issues in order to come together and a little itty bitty bit of a suspense subplot. Oh,yeah, and there was a very predictable "miracle" towards the end. I enjoyed it but the plot kind of lagged.

Love the fact that the dog has dialog.

Funny, steamy, emotional... great read!
This was my first Donovan book and I really enjoyed it. Great story and romance. I couldn't put it down
Fun fast read! Great book to relax and just enjoy the antics of Ms. Donovan's characters.
Screwball romance featuring a man-shy veterinarian specializing in animal psychiatry, a frustrated undercover investigator who's through with women, a traumatized Chinese Crested dog, and the sexiest eating scene since 'Tom Jones'.
Great story. Romance plus some chuckles.
Loved It, Read it in a day. On my Keeper shelf!!!!!
I absolutely LOVED this book. I laughed out loud several times while reading it.
I highly recommend reading this author and look forward to reading many more of her books.

Great story. Loved it.
Donovan (Knock Me Off My Feet, etc.) returns with a frisky caper centered around a tiny hairless dog known as a Chinese Crested. Thomas Tobin-an undercover investigator of paid "hits"-discovers little Hairy trembling near the body of a key informant. Feeling responsible for the man's death, the usually cynical Thomas takes Hairy home, then consults animal behaviorist Emma Jenkins to help fix the dog's decidedly weird behavior. Emma responds immediately to Thomas's blinding sex appeal, but her recent divorce and her adoption of her best friend's orphaned daughter leave her with little energy for romance. Despite painful baggage of his own, Thomas is less ambivalent. The discovery that Hairy may hold a clue to the murder gives him an excuse to hire Emma again. A fun and quick read!

Meanwhile, Emma's shady ex-husband Aaron-the murderer Thomas is seeking-re-enters their lives in a dramatic way. The early revelation of Aaron's guilt undercuts the suspense, but the book's comic sharpness picks up the slack. The humorous interactions among Thomas, Emma and Emma's quirky family give the book a golden warmth as earthy as its rural Maryland setting. But there are also enough explicit erotic interludes to please readers who like their romances spicy.
I will be on vacation from April 29th til May 13th. If you are interested in this book, understand it can not be shipped during this time frame.
