I guess it depends on your time of life or what you want to read, but a few years ago I put this one down, just gave up and now I've read it and liked it a lot. I'm anxious to continue with the series and look forward to the next one. Good cozy, good mystery. Even college based I ended up enjoying this. Great family connection and a wonderful dog in this series.

This book is the first book of a series of murder mysteries that involve a single female parent and an ex-cop dog, Jake. The characters are well formed and the mystery unfolds naturally into a great who dun it with Jake saving the day. Although this book was written over 20 years ago, the main character is modern and bright in her thinking. A thoroughly enjoyable book especially for dog lovers and women.
