This is the first book with these characters from Fritz Leiber. I found the big to be a fascinating read. He provided such good imagery and even though it didn't seem like they were doing anything, the book seemed relatively fast-paced. I believe this book was supposed to set-up the back-story for the following books - there's something like 6 books on these guys...
