The dramatic story of the rescue of the Willie and Martin Hardcart Companies. These companies were comprised largely of European converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon Church), whose 1,300-mile journey from Iowa to the valley of the Great Salt Lake almost ended in tragedy. Over 70 new paintings created especially for this volume help to recount their travails, their dramatic rescue, and their complete faith in God, Who sustained many of them through the journey's end. This is a sad story because so many of the breathren die. The idea is given to get more LDS Brethern fron Iowa to the Zion of Salt Lake City Utah to push handcarts with humans. The problem is these folk. havent done hard labor much less pull the handcarts plus 17 pounds Of itema in it.Folks fall over dead or die as they sleep from pushing these handcarts over dangerous topography west. It is a sad,Sad Story.
